Russell M. Nelson, formerly of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, became The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 17th president Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. Nelson, 93, served as a member of the quorum since April 7, 1984. He is a retired surgeon and medical researcher with a master's degree from the University of Utah.
