HUNTSVILLE — It's finally here, everyone.
Snowbasin announced Saturday that the resort will open earlier than previously scheduled. Lifts will start spinning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, a day earlier than previously planned.
The resort said in a press release that recent cold temperatures combined with recent snowmaking allowed Snowbasin to open ahead of time.
"With the current conditions and all our staff on board and ready to go, why not get our guests on the slopes early," resort general manager Davy Ratchford said in the press release. "We know everyone is excited for their first turns and now we can fulfill that wish a little early.”
Three lifts will be in operation staring Tuesday, consisting of the Needles Gondola, Littlecat Express and Middle Bowl Triple, the release states. A handful of runs will be open along those lifts, including a terrain park.
The resort is also planning on giving away prizes and free hot beverages for those awaiting the clock to strike 9 a.m.
Snowbasin will be the first resort in the Ogden area to open this season, and will be the third resort to open in the state, according to Ski Utah. Nordic Valley is set to open on Dec. 7, according to their website, and Powder Mountain has not announced an opening day.
