UTA: Bus bridge running in place of FrontRunner from Ogden to SLC Saturday

OGDEN — A bus bridge from Ogden to North Temple Station in Salt Lake City will run in place of the FrontRunner train Saturday.

The Utah Transit Authority announced Wednesday that FrontRunner service north of Salt Lake City would be suspended for the day so UTA can test the Positive Train Control safety requirements mandated by the federal government.

Train service from Salt Lake Central station south down to Provo will operate normally.

Buses and vans will transport riders between Ogden, North Temple, and the stations in-between, UTA said, and will follow the FrontRunner schedule as closely as possible.

“Travel times may be extended to some degree as road construction and vehicle traffic may lead to slightly longer trip times,” UTA said.

UTA personnel will be at all FrontRunner platforms to provide assistance to passengers boarding buses and vans.

A bus fare will only be required for passengers traveling within the suspended service area on UTA buses and vans, UTA said.

Standard FrontRunner fare rates will apply for passengers traveling south between North Temple and Provo.

FrontRunner service will resume on Monday. However, UTA will be operating on a holiday schedule for Labor Day.
