More Shopko stores in Northern Utah will be closing this spring due to the retail chain declaring bankruptcy mid-January.
Shopko filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Jan. 16, announcing it would close 13 stores in Utah, including those at 1018 Washington Blvd. in Ogden and 747 South Main in Brigham City, which are expected to close by April 5.
That list expanded to 19 stores Wednesday, adding the locations at 4060 Riverdale Road in Riverdale, 1159 N. Main in Layton, 440 W. Main St. in Tremonton and 1341 N. Main St. in Logan.
The Riverdale, Layton and Tremonton stores will close by May 5, while Logan will remain open until at least May 12.
The Green Bay Press Gazette reported that 139 stores in total were added to closure list, and the retailer will have shuttered almost 70 percent of its locations by May.
The company cited assets of less than $1 billion and debts between $1 billion and $10 billion when it filed for bankruptcy protection in January.
