This year, the Fourth of July is on a Wednesday. Check out this list to find out what businesses and services are open, closed or running on a different schedule. 

FEDERAL OFFICES

Independence Day is a federal holiday. All federal offices will be closed.

STATE OFFICES

The State of Utah observes the Fourth of July, and state offices will be closed, according to the holiday schedule.

COUNTY OFFICES

Weber, Davis, Box Elder and Cache counties observe Independence Day. County offices will be closed. 

CITY OFFICES

Most city offices close in observance of the Fourth of July.

POSTAL SERVICE/SHIPPING

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed Wednesday and will not deliver mail. Self-service lobbies will remain open.

UPS and FedEx are also closed and will not deliver packages.

DMV/DRIVER’S LICENSE OFFICES

The Division of Motor Vehicles and the Driver’s License Division offices will be closed as they observe state recognized holidays.

LIQUOR STORES

All Utah liquor stores and package agencies are closed on the Fourth of July, according to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s holiday schedule

LIBRARIES

Weber County Library, Davis County Library and Box Elder City Library locations will be closed on Independence Day. 

UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY

UTA’s FrontRunner trains and local buses will run on Saturday schedules for the holiday, according to the holiday service policy

BANKS

Most banks and credit unions observe July Fourth by closing. Contact your branch if you have questions. 

GROCERY AND RETAIL STORES

Generally, grocers and retailers are open on Independence Day. Some may have modified hours. Call your local store if you have questions.
