OGDEN — Journalist Ronan Farrow will be speaking in Ogden in January.

The influential New Yorker contributor will take the stage from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Weber State’s Browning Center for the Performing Arts.

Farrow’s talk is part of the university’s Browning Presents! speaker series, which “serves as the center of cultural life and performing arts education along the Northern Wasatch Front,” according to the school’s website.

The Browning Presents! series is focused on bringing world-class speakers to the Weber State campus for the betterment of students and the community, according to Christie Denniston, marketing director for the Lindquist College of Arts and Humanities.

In January, author and activist Dr. Cornell West spoke in front of a sold-out crowd as a part of the Browning event series.

Farrow will meet with honor students and reporters with the university’s student newspaper, The Signpost, before the talk, Denniston said Thursday.

Farrow is among the reporters at the New York Times and the New Yorker awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. The publications were given the award based on their reporting on Harvey Weinstein, a major Hollywood producer accused of sexually assaulting a number of women over many years.

Their reporting is largely credited for starting the #MeToo movement.

Seats for the event are expected to fill up quickly, Denniston said. In addition to theater seating, there will be a limited number of seats on-stage available for the event.

Denniston said Farrow’s talk at Weber State is the only event he has planned in Utah, and it will a great opportunity for students and the community to hear from a person who has had such an influence in recent years.

Tickets are currently on sale, and can be purchased online at weberstatetickets.com or at ticket offices on the Weber State University main campus.
