Strong winds, storm lead to power outages in Northern Utah; lines and poles down in Morgan
OGDEN — Thousands of Rocky Mountain Power customers lost power during a thunderstorm Saturday evening in Northern Utah.
According to the company’s outage map, over 5,000 customers in Northern Utah, from Morgan to Ogden, faced power outages during the storm. That number was down to approximately 275 as of Sunday morning.
Both the National Weather Service and Rocky Mountain Power determined the power issues were due to the storm.
According to a representative from Rocky Mountain Power, a high-voltage transmission line was down on Morgan Valley Drive in Morgan as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The storm also resulted in downed power lines, trees down on lines and fallen poles in the area.
RMP has asked customers to report outages and to keep their personal information updated within their account in order to get updates from the company.
Rocky Mountain Power also reminded residents to steer clear of all downed power lines, whether or not they’re live, due to potential dangers.

“The winds have been really strong out of the west and northwest. We’ve seen gusts in some valley locations over 60 mph already,” a representative from NWS told the Standard-Examiner.
On Twitter, the National Weather Service Salt Lake City station sent out an urban and small stream flood advisory to residents of south-central Weber County, which essentially advises people to be safe near rivers and streams, and to be alert for possible ponding of water on streets and near storm drains.
