U.S. Rep. Blake Moore, a Salt Lake City Republican, represents Utah's 1st District.

OGDEN — U.S. Rep. Blake Moore will be holding a town hall meeting on Thursday in Ogden, part of a series of stops he’s been making around the 1st District over the summer.

The gathering starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and will be held at the Marshall White Center at 222 28th St. in Ogden. He’ll hold another meeting earlier Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Morgan County Building Auditorium at 48 W. Young St. in Morgan.

Moore, a Republican from Salt Lake City, planned to have held meetings in Cache and Box Elder counties on Tuesday, but those were postponed because the U.S. House was called into session. They are to be rescheduled.

The sometimes-chaotic U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan has been a big issue of late. Last week, Moore announced he’d introduce the Afghanistan Accountability Act, calling for a review of the intelligence and communication related to the withdrawal provided to President Joe Biden and national security officials between January and August this year.

Earlier this summer, Moore partnered with two other lawmakers in introducing the Forest Improvements through Research and Emergency Stewardship for Healthy Ecosystem Development and Sustainability, or FIRESHEDS, Act.

The measure, he said in a statement, would allow for the establishment of fireshed management areas. Such areas would allow the U.S. Secretary of the Interior to designate areas in a state to conduct fireshed management projects and use advanced technologies and wildfire hazard models to reduce threats to public health, critical infrastructure, wildlife habitats and watersheds.
