OGDEN — Several new faces are on their way to some of the city councils serving cities around Weber County.

North Ogden, Washington Terrace and Riverdale will get one new city council member each, according to unofficial, preliminary vote tallies released Tuesday. The Roy and West Haven City Councils will each get two new members.

Following are some of the highlights from the council races around Weber County, according to vote totals so far, released by the Weber County Elections Office Tuesday night. Updated numbers are to be released Thursday.

Roy: Newcomers Sophie Paul and Randy Scadden easily garnered the most votes in the four-way race for two Roy City Council spots, according to the numbers released Tuesday. Incumbents Bryon Saxton and Jan Burrell didn’t seek reelection.

North Ogden: Incumbent Blake Cevering topped the list of candidates in the four-way race for two seats on the North Ogden City Council. Next came Jay Dalpias, a newcomer on his way to the council.

Incumbent Cheryl Stoker didn’t run again.

West Haven: Newcomers Ryan Saunders and Ryan Swapp had the most votes in the four-way race for two seats on the West Haven City Council.

Rob Vanderwood, an incumbent city council member who was up for reelection, ran instead for mayor of West Haven this cycle, winning that contest, according to preliminary totals. Randy Hunter, the other incumbent council member up for election this cycle, didn’t run.

The election results will lead to a complete turnover of the five-member West Haven City Council since 2019. The three other city council members won election in 2019, taking office in 2020.

Washington Terrace: Newcomer Jill Christiansen topped the list in the four-way race for two Washington Terrace City Council posts, followed by incumbent Jeff West.

Incumbent Larry Weir finished third, out of the running, according to Tuesday’s numbers.

Riverdale: Newcomer Anne Hansen topped the list in the four-way race for two Riverdale City Council posts, followed by incumbent Bart Stevens.

Brent Ellis, the other incumbent whose seat came up for election, didn’t run.

Numerous city council posts in other cities across Weber County were also on the ballot in voting that culminated Tuesday.
