2 seriously injured in Monte Cristo motorcycle crash
HUNTSVILLE — Two people suffered serious injuries in a collision of two motorcycles Sunday in the Monte Cristo area of state Route 39, according to the Weber Fire District.
One person was critically injured and taken by a medical helicopter to a local hospital, the district said in a social media post. The other person, transported by ambulance, had major but not life-threatening injuries, it said.
“At some point, the two motorcycles hit,” Sgt. Cameron Roden, Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson, said of the 2:15 p.m. crash.
Sunday’s crash was the second significant motorcycle crash in the area in the past several days. The UHP said a southbound motorcycle on Trappers Loop Highway on Thursday went off the left side of the road, throwing the rider.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital, where he died of the injuries. The UHP said on its website that excessive speed appeared to have contributed to the crash. The driver’s identity was not released.
