A fresh round of snow is on its way and is expected to bring several inches of snow and gusty winds to northern and western Utah Sunday evening.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of the state, including Weber, Davis and Box Elder counties, from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service of Salt Lake City.
Between 2-7 inches of snow is expected to fall on the valley floors and wind gusts could reach as high as 45 mph, the advisory said. In the mountains, between 6-15 inches of snow accumulation is expected.
A cold front that's crossing the state today and into the evening is expected to reach the northwest tip of Utah by midday and hit Salt Lake City by mid-afternoon.
"Expect a 2-3 hour period of intense snow after the cold front passes. Roads may remain slick or snow covered into the overnight hours even as snow ends," the NWS said.
On Twitter, the weather service advised drivers along the northern Wasatch Front to be off the roads by 4-5 p.m.
The Utah Department of Transportation said drivers will see snow covered roads on Interstate 15 and state highways from 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
