ROY — A house fire in Roy sent a woman to the hospital and displaced a family Friday.

Fire crews were dispatched to a single-family home in the block of 5000 S. 2825 West in Roy around 4:22 p.m. Friday, according to Roy Fire Deputy Chief Leroy Gleichmann.

Crews were able to put out the fire and transported one woman in serious condition to a local hospital, Gleichmann said.

The home sustained fire and smoke damage. The deputy chief did not know the exact number of people who lived in the home but said the family was displaced due to the fire.

Investigators have yet to determine how and where the fire began. An estimate on the damage caused by the fire had yet to be determined as of Friday night, according to Gleichmann.
