OGDEN — County workers at the Weber Center received quite a scare Monday afternoon when a car accidentally drove through a wall from the adjacent parking garage.

An 85-year-old man was in a handicap parking space in the building’s parking structure when he accidentally hit the gas and went through a wall, according to Ogden Police Lt. Mike Boone.

First responders were dispatched to the Weber Center around 3:04 p.m. and found a Ford F-150 pickup truck had fully barreled through an eastern wall and into a conference room before stoping just short of hitting another wall, according to Sean Wilkinson, community development director for Weber County.

Wilkinson said the truck missed the office of a worker in the county’s planning division by roughly a few feet. The employee was in the office at the time of the crash, he said.

He went on to say that one meeting was originally planned to be in the conference room earlier today, but was moved to another room in a different part of the building.

No injuries were reported in the crash, according to Boone.

Emergency crews pulled the truck out of the conference room earlier today, Wilkinson said.

The county believes the damage is limited to the wall and no structural damage occurred in the crash, Wilkinson said. An estimated damage estimate was not available as of Monday afternoon.
