OGDEN — Police say a man in his 20s is dead after he was found unconscious Saturday night in Ogden.

The Ogden Police said in a press release Sunday evening that officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard and found a man with injuries that they believe came from a physical fight.

The man was rushed to a local hospital and was in critical condition, according to the release. Later the man died from his injuries. Initial media reports alleged the man was shot, but police say that was not the case.

As of Sunday, police say the incident was isolated and there is no immediate threat to the public.

Police did not identify the man as of Sunday, pending notification of kin.

Police have identified a person of interest regarding the man’s death, but no arrests have been made as of Sunday evening. The case is still under investigation.

If the investigation would result in an arrest and an indictment, the man’s death would prove to be the first Ogden or Weber County homicide in 2019.
