FARR WEST — A car crash is causing major delays in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 in Farr West.

Around 4 p.m., a crash involving multiple vehicles occurred on the interstate near milepost 349, according to a tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation.

One semitrailer and at least two other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Nick Street.

Street said two people were taken via ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. Other injuries have been reported but were said to be non-life threatening.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene but was called off as responders decided ground ambulances would be just as fast, according to Street.

Street said he did not have a specific number of people injured or the extent of all the injuries.

Street said it will likely take investigators several hours to clear the crash scene.

The Weber Fire District is reporting that a total of eight passenger vehicles and the semitrailer were involved in the crash.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

How sad to think when ever there is an accident it's the truck drivers fault . If people would get the fact that the truck driver spends more hours on the road In a week Than most drivers spend in a year . We are constantly being cut off by stupid people on their phones or people that are in such a big hurry to get somewhere 30 seconds faster . This accident was caused by the pickup truck not the truck driver . It was a sad loss of a life . The Interstate was made for trucks . We are all here doing a job just like everyone else does . Cutting trucks off only results in accidents like this one we don't stop a dime and without trucks America stops . Everything you have comes in on a truck . So start being respectful around the big truck .

Does the SE plan to run a follow up or updated article on this? I'm curious to learn what caused this accident and updates on any injuries.

Not surprising that a semi truck was involved. The interstate is saturated with big rigs and construction traffic, it is actually amazing that more catastrophic accidents don’t occur.

How do you know the semi was at fault, where the accident was located and the placement of the cars it looked like the semi was cut off by someone trying to make the exit.
