OGDEN — A small airplane was involved in an accident at the Ogden-Hinckley Airport on Wednesday evening, according to fire and airport officials.

Around 5:40 p.m., a student and instructor were flying in a Cessna 172 airplane practicing “touch and go’s,” an exercise where a pilot descends from the sky, briefly touches the ground then ascends once more, according to Jon Greiner, manager of the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.

During the exercise, the student reportedly lost control of the plane and it flipped over, Greiner said. Neither the student nor the instructor were injured during the crash.

As of 6:15 p.m., fire crews were at the scene assisting in the cleanup of the crash.

Greiner said it was unknown as of Wednesday evening the degree of damage to the plane.
