BZ Real Ogden Portraits Anastashia Perea

Anastasia Perea stands outside her Ogden home. Perea will start attending Ben Lomond High School in the fall.

'It’s a beautiful town with a lot of great people.'

Anastashia Perea, 15, wants to go to college and become an obstetrician. But for now, she’s getting ready to start her sophomore year at Ogden’s Ben Lomond High School.

Perea said her mom is protective and doesn’t like her walking through town alone, but she personally feels completely safe.

“It’s a great place,” Perea said of Ogden. “Many people believe it’s ghetto and an unsafe place, but I think it’s the complete opposite. It’s a beautiful town with a lot of great people.”

Still, Perea said the area between Washington Boulevard and Harrison Boulevard near 25th Street is sketchier than the rest of Ogden. Her brother was once walking through that area and was harassed by a car full of people.

“He said he hid and the police came and he came home safely,” Perea said.

Her favorite part of town is the Ogden Junction.

At 15 years old, Parea is enrolled in honors, AP and concurrent enrollment courses because she wants to be prepared for college.

On Friday, June 16, she was also preparing for her quinceañera.

“There’s a balance I think,” she said. “I’ve mainly like to do my school work first so I don't get behind.”
