OGDEN — The Utah Department of Transportation says motorists driving on Interstate 15 through the Wasatch Front should count on delays during the Labor Day weekend.
In a press release, UDOT spokesman John Gleason said I-15 trips through Salt Lake and Utah counties could take up to an hour longer on Friday.
Gleason said traffic engineers expect the delays to occur Friday between 2 and 8:30 p.m., with heaviest congestion around 5 p.m.
As motorists return, northbound I-15 will see heavier traffic south of Payson from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Monday, Gleason said.
Across the state, most UDOT projects will suspend construction and open all lanes to traffic to help reduce delays, but existing lane restrictions or traffic shifts will remain in place where needed to protect work zones and ensure safety.
