Letter from the Publisher
We are living in a time when honest reporting and easy access to relevant information is more critical than ever. The question is not merely “did you read the news” but “where did you read your news.” For many of us all across Northern Utah, the answer is the Standard-Examiner.
Over the years, our loyal readers have invested trust and local accountability in us, and we value your trust and take it seriously. Other Utah news outlets spend the majority of their time on Salt Lake City and elsewhere in the state, but no entity covers Weber & Davis counties like we do. From in-depth coverage to unique local stories we continue to be here for you.
But we can’t continue to provide ongoing quality, local journalism without your support.
With that in mind, we are excited to introduce SE Online Memberships. We know you will have questions during this transition, and we will be here to provide simple answers.
Over the next month, you will see social media posts and emails about our upcoming new chapter - the launching of a better way to continue to serve you the valuable content you expect.
You may be asking why this move? Over the years, the market and industry have changed, making journalism a reader-supported base.
Many major city and small-town newspapers have started using this model to thrive and continue to grow.
Standard.net is joining in this, and we ask you to come along.
We’ve been here for over 100 years, and online subscriptions will help ensure another 100 years and a legacy beyond us.
Throughout your day, consider the importance of your local news. From city council meetings to top entertainment, we are there for you. From public safety incidents in your neighborhood to truth-in-taxation hearings, we are there. From the top prep sports rivalry to Weber State sports, again, we are there.
Rest assured we are more committed than ever to local news in Northern Utah, and providing you with stories that matter to you.
From print to digital with SE Online Memberships, we are moving forward for you.
Invest in your local journalism. Now more than ever, our growing community needs it. Thank you for making us your news choice.

An SE Online Membership provides unlimited access to Standard-Examiner content. We have various levels of membership depending on if you want print and digital access, or just digital access only.
Ready to subscribe and see what all the buzz is about? https://www.standard.net/
2. Does this mean that you will stop making a print edition?
No! Unlike some other regional newspapers, we are not abandoning our print roots. We are still committed to giving you the same print newspaper you've come to depend on, and up to the minute digital content as well.
3. I already get home delivery of the newspaper. Do I get free digital access?
Yes! 7 day print only subscribers, Enhanced, and Premium membership choices will have full access to standard.net and the Digital Edition.
Sunday only print subscribers in Weber County will also have full access including the Digital Edition included with your subscription.
To access the Enhanced and Premium memberships easy sign-up process, click one of the links above.
If we don't already have your email address in your account, you will need to contact our Member Services department at (801) 625-4400 before you will be able to log in.
4. What if I don't want to subscribe — can I still read Standard.net for free?
Visitors will be allowed five articles to enjoy per month.
Once you reach your limit of five articles, unfortunately you will not be able to continue to read the in-depth content that you enjoy. Your free, limited access will reset at the beginning of each calendar month.
That is, until you subscribe.
5. Can I get a digital subscription to the Standard.net website only?
Yes, with our Basic membership choice, you will receive access to all Standard.net content on all devices, including our exclusive Digital Edition Newspaper Online.
6. How are digital subscriptions billed?
We have several options for billing from EZ pay automatic withdrawal to receiving an invoice via post or even paying in person at our offices. As a SE Online Member, you can pay via debit or credit card. With EZ Pay, your subscription will be renewed automatically.
We make it seamless and easy for you to keep up to date with what's going on in your community.
7. Can I share my digital subscription?
Each subscription is connected uniquely to an email address and password, so family sharing is not a plan we currently have.
8. Do I have to give you my email address to have an Online Membership? Will you sell my email address to anyone?
Yes, you have to have a valid email address attached to your account to be able to log in and access our amazing content.

We will never sell or share your email address with anyone.
