Letter: Ogden needs better snow-removal trucks

Dec 10, 2021

I have noticed that Ogden still utilizes the big, orange trucks to push snow to the sides of the roads. I have observed that when they come to the residential districts, as they drive by, the snow blocks the driveways and sometimes that’s after the residents have finished clearing their driveways with shovels or snowplows. In January of 1984, I was in New Brunswick. And I spotted a big, yellow machine with a blue flasher on top. This machine functioned on asphalt in the same way as snowplows do on concrete, but they don’t cause snow to block driveways. The snow is tossed to the nearby lawns. Why can’t Ogden acquire such machines instead of blocking driveways? I’d gladly pay additional taxes if such would be required for the procurement and operation of these machines.
