Letter: Lesser is an available and accessible representative

Oct 11, 2022

‘Available’ and ‘accessible’ are two characteristics that are essential in a public official. Dr. Rosemary Lesser, State Representative for Utah House District 10, has demonstrated proficiency in both.

Shortly after moving to Ogden, almost a year ago, I received a flier from Dr. Lesser. In it was an invitation to contact her and several methods for doing so. I gave her a call and she herself answered. She then engaged me in a most informative chat, asking questions of me throughout. She was interested in me both as a person and as a constituent. As I hung up the phone, I felt as though my legislator knew my interests and would represent them well.

Three months later Dr. Lesser came to talk to my neighbors and I at the Harrison Regent Senior Community. She updated us on the work of the legislature and of her initiatives, specifically the elimination of sales tax on food. My fellow residents often asked tough questions of Dr. Lesser and she answered them with a great depth of knowledge and understanding.

She came again a few months later to engage us again. My neighbors commented on the fact that it was the first time that they remember a legislator or legislative candidate visiting our community. We were all impressed. Dr. Lesser proved herself as both available and accessible.

My neighbors and I deserve the best in a legislative representative. It is fortunate that in Dr. Rosemary Lesser, we have it.
