Another Salute to Willie Moore — although I was raised in Weber County, my family lived outside of Utah for 20 years. Over those years I started to visit different barbershops in various cites, counties and states across the country. Upon returning to Utah, my fine father, knowing my interest in old school barbershops, took me to meet Willie Moore at his old Patterson Street shop before he opened his shop on 25th Street. I salute Willie as not only one of the finest barbers I have met, but also a decent man, with an open mind and a friend to all.

Besides being a skilled barber, he knew his sports and 25th Street's history. He told me that he started shining shoes on 25th Street when he was 14 years old in the heyday of the railroad. Willie was a fine tuned athlete himself and played with the Globe Trotters. He cut hair for a number of years in the basement of the old Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. Willie was so happy to be back in Ogden, a city he loved and the people loved him. Willie Moore represented the best of Ogden's heritage and embraced its modern hipness as well.

Wille, we will miss you, one of the real gems and gentlemen of Ogden. We have lost a treasure.
