SOUTH OGDEN — Police investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death of a body found in brush along Washington Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

The extent of decomposition prevented immediate confirmation of the person’s gender, approximate age and identity, South Ogden Police Department Sgt. Tony Perfetto said Monday. There were no signs of foul play at the scene, he said.

Some people walking along the east side of the street at about 4800 South discovered the body and police were called at 3:19 p.m., Perfetto said. Detectives don’t know how long the body may have been there.

“In that area, there are a lot of weeds and sagebrush and bushes,” Perfetto said. “There’s a little gully there and the body was found off in a brush area.”

The body was sent to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner. Perfetto said South Ogden detectives are in charge of the investigation.
