Fire trucks on scene

NORTH OGDEN -- A North Ogden home was severely damaged by a fire that broke out Friday afternoon.

At 1:15 p.m., the North View Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a home in the 2600 North block of 950 East in North Ogden. There was heavy smoke and flames coming out of the front and back of the home upon firefighters arrival, North View Deputy Fire Chief Jeremiah Jones said.

A juvenile boy was at home at the time of the fire, but escaped. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution due to smoke inhalation, Jones said.

The fire was under control within 15-20 minutes. It was primarily located in the front room of the house and kitchen, Jones said, and the cause is under investigation.

The home is a total loss, Jones said, and the fire caused upwards of $200,000 in damage. At least three people have been displaced.

Firefighters gathered $175 in gift cards to donate to the family, according to post on the North View Fire Department Facebook page.

Firefighters from Ogden and Weber also responded to the scene.
