OGDEN — An Ogden man is being charged with 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after police discovered thousands of child pornography files in his Dropbox account.

Jeffery Sanford, 39, was arrested Wednesday and is being held on a $200,000 bond in the Weber County Jail.

According to court documents, the Utah Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children division received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a Dropbox account that reportedly belonged to Sanford contained photo and video files of child pornography.

The tip showed 93 files depicting prepubescent and teenage males engaged in sex acts. Police obtained warrant for Sanford’s Dropbox account and received a “complete recreation” of the account, which showed that “the defendant had thousands of images and videos of child pornography in his account,” court documents said.

During an interview with detectives, Sanford allegedly admitted to possessing and viewing child pornography, and said that he “has been addicted to child pornography for several years.”

Sanford made his initial appearance in 2nd District Court Friday. Another hearing is scheduled on April 16.
