FARMINGTON — A Syracuse man is accused of sexually abusing a young boy and producing child pornography images.

Dustin Reid Hawkins, 30, is being held in the Davis County Jail, and Hawkins was charged Thursday with 21 felonies, all of which are related to child sex abuse.

The charges against Hawkins consist of seven counts of sodomy on a child, a first-degree felony; five counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and nine counts of of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

Police began investigating Hawkins when an 11-year-old boy disclosed that he was sexually abused by Hawkins, with the most recent assault allegedly taking place a day before the boy was interviewed, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The boy would go on to detail the alleged sexual abuse to investigators, and he told them that Hawkins allegedly took pictures of the sexual abuse with his phone. Hawkins allegedly told the boy not to tell anyone about the abuse.

A day after the boy was interviewed by investigators, police interviewed Hawkins where he allegedly admitted to abusing the boy. He said that the first alleged instance of abuse happened over a year prior at his Syracuse home, according to the affidavit.

Investigators allegedly found eight pictures of the sexual abuse on Hawkins’ phone.

Hawkins is being held in jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond. His initial appearance in court is scheduled to take place April 17 in Farmington’s 2nd District Court. Hawkins does not have an attorney listed in court records.
