BOUNTIFUL — A semi-tractor trailer crashed on Interstate 15 in Bountiful Monday night, seriously injuring the driver, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

A tweet from the agency called the accident, involving only the semi-tractor trailer, a "possible fatality." Sgt. Nick Street said the driver was transported from the scene in an ambulance and that some sort of "medical problem" involving the truck operator likely precipitated the crash, called in sometime before 8:30 p.m.

The mishap occurred on I-15 around the 400 North exit. The northbound truck involved left the right side of I-15 and then crashed into an overhead sign support and concrete barrier.

The truck was actually off the roadway when it crashed and northbound traffic continued flowing, though emergency vehicles were on the scene, according to Street.
