BOUNTIFUL — A man drove his SUV to a Bountiful church parking lot expecting to meet a teen girl for sex but instead was arrested by police investigators, according to court records.

A Davis County Attorney’s Office agent working with the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force and posing as a 13-year-old girl talked with a man on a chat application and arranged the meeting Wednesday.

The man, using the screen name “BeingdaPerv,” sent a photo of his penis and described sex acts he desired, according to a police probable cause affidavit filed in 2nd District Court.

Agents arrested Thomas Gerald Porter, 28, and he was booked into the Davis County Jail later Wednesday on suspicion of enticing a minor by internet or sex, a second-degree felony, and dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a third-degree felony.

The affidavit said Porter admitted using the screen name and chatting with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl. He said he would not have done the sex acts he described if the girl had shown up.

Charges had not been filed in 2nd District Court as of Friday and Porter did not yet have an attorney of record.

He remained in jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
