Fire trucks on scene

An apartment at 630 23rd Street caught fire Wednesday evening. One occupant has been displaced as a result of the fire and no one was injured.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 6:45 p.m. They reported "heavy fire and smoke coming from the window of the apartment," according to a press release from Eric Bauman, deputy fire chief for Ogden City.

Twenty-one firefighters from Ogden City and Roy extinguished the blaze from outside the building, the press release said.

The two departments "responded with three ladder trucks, two engines, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, on deputy fire marshal and the battalion chief," according to the press release.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is still under investigation, Bauman said.

Damage is estimated at $20,000.
