WEBER COUNTY — A man killed in a crash on Powder Mountain Road Wednesday afternoon has been identified by police.
Carlos Guzman Hernandez, 37, of Guatemala City, Guatemala, was killed when he was ejected from a cargo truck that lost control and flipped on its side shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
Hernandez was declared dead at the scene by first responders. He was a passenger in the truck.
The truck's driver was treated at the scene and only received minor injuries, Weber Sheriff's Lt. Matt Jensen said.
The crash may have been caused by the truck's brakes failing while it was in motion, Jensen said.
The crash blocked both lanes of travel on Powder Mountain Road for several hours, stranding skiers at Powder Mountain until it was reopened later that evening.
