OGDEN — An Ogden man has been arrested after allegedly beating a woman unconscious and leaving her in a parking lot on 25th Street in March.

Robert Apua Moeai, 47, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, in connection with the incident. He was booked into the Weber County Jail on Monday and released on a $10,000 bond.

On March 10, police were flagged down near a parking lot in the 200 block of 25th Street and found a unconscious woman in serious condition, according to court documents. She was bleeding from her face and nose; a doctor who later treated her said she sustained “serious bodily injuries” in the assault, which included brain trauma, a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fractured nose and wrist.

Police received an initial description of the suspect, who was later further identified via a video posted on a popular Ogden Facebook page, “You know your from Ogden if,” according to court documents.

The video allegedly shows Moeai breaking up a fight between the victim and another women prior to the assault. Moeai was tagged in the video’s comments by several users and witnesses who viewed the video told police his matched the description of the assault suspect.

Security camera footage shows Moeai leaving Lucky Slice Pizza with the victim and another woman, and walking toward the parking lot. The trio allegedly walked around the car, with the victim and Moeai on one side, and the second woman on another. Police said Moeai then allegedly “seized the opportunity to violently assault the victim, leaving her unconscious and bleeding” before he “casually walks away.”

A warrant for Moeai’s arrest was issued May 7.

His initial court appearance is scheduled for July 2 in 2nd District Court.
