OGDEN — An Ogden man has died after a motorcycle crash Saturday, May 4.

Police were dispatched to the scene of a motorcycle crash around 8:24 p.m. near the 400 block of 24th Street, according to a press release from the Ogden Police Department.

Witnesses told police that a motorcycle with two passengers was driving east on 24th Street when the the driver tried to brake in order to avoid another vehicle, which caused the bike to slide and throw the two off the bike.

Both occupants of the bike were taken to the hospital.

Police say the driver, 38-year-old Kyle Nielsen, died on May 7 due to injuries sustained during the crash. The other person on the motorcycle, a 40-year-old woman, suffered a broken leg but is expected to recover, according to police.

It was unclear as of Friday whether either of the two were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The accident is still under investigation by the Ogden Police Traffic Unit.
