KAYSVILLE — Police in Kaysville are searching for a suspect they believe was involved in a shooting that took place Thursday night.

The Kaysville Police Department said in a Facebook post Friday that they are looking for 24-year-old Jay Dewayne Burrus, a man they say could be armed and dangerous.

Around 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, police in Kaysville were dispatched to a report of shots fired at 680 North Main Street, according to the post.

When police arrived they found “several shell casings” and discovered that a fight took place among several people before the shots were fired. Multiple vehicles were seen leaving the area after the shooting took place.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the shooting.

Police also indicated that a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was found in Layton.

Burrus, whose alleged role in the shooting was not disclosed in the post from police, is currently the only suspect police are searching for as of Friday evening.

If you or someone you know has any information regarding Burrus’ whereabouts, please contact the Kaysville Police Department at 801-546-1131.
