U.S. marshals in Oregon have arrested a man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder in an April 5 shooting in Kaysville.

Portland police on Monday spotted a car with Utah plates at the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles and identified an occupant as Jay Dewayne Burrus, 24, marshals said in a news release.

Burrus was attempting to register the vehicle in Oregon, the release said.

Marshals arrested Burrus, and in a court appearance he waived his right to fight extradition and will be returned to Utah.

The Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team in Utah had learned Burrus was in Portland and alerted authorities there.

In Kaysville last month, Burrus argued with two men over a woman he had been dating, according to the news release. He drew a firearm, shot at the men and fled, it said.

No one was injured in the shooting, which happened in the 600 north block of Main Street.
