1900 West West Haven crash

A 10-year-old girl was severely injured in a two vehicle crash on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, near 1900 West and 2550 South in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN — A 10-year-old was flown to a Salt Lake City hospital after she was severely injured in a crash Thursday.

Shortly before 4 p.m., two vehicles collided after a northbound pick-up turned left in front of a southbound mini van while driving along 1900 West near 2550 South in West Haven, according to Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Terrance Lavell.

The 16-year-old driver of the truck broke a leg in the crash, while the passenger — a 10-year-old girl — received severe head trauma, Lavell said. No one in the van was injured.

The girl was initially taken via ambulance to McKay Dee Hospital before being flown via Life Flight to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Lavell said he believes seatbelts were in use. The crash is being investigated.
