to charge rodeo fans for viewing WNFR

Rodeo fans can watch the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo by subscribing to, but viewers in the U.S. will be subject to a 12-hour delay.

Rodeo fans will have to pay to watch the 2017 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo — happening Dec. 7-16 in Las Vegas — unless they have access to CBS Sports Network on DISH Channel 158 or DirecTV Channel 121.

People without these channels can watch CBS Sports Network’s live broadcast of the rodeo at for $39.

According to the website, the offer of $39 is for a limited time and includes the entire 10-day event that may be streamed from anywhere in the world at any time of day. The regular price is $80.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s new offers an $80 international streaming service for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, though viewers in the U.S. will be subject to a 12-hour delay.

The PRCA’s internet television service was launched in October with a mission to broadcast rodeo events throughout the year, according to a news release.

Subscribers can stream most rodeo events live with the exception of the Wrangler National Finals. Sources said the delay is due to an agreement with CBS Sports Network. subscribers also have access to over 50 years of PRCA rodeo archives, the news release said.

“This is not only an opportunity to put more rodeo content at the disposal of our fans but also a way to bring more money into the PRCA, which benefits the hard-working members of our association,” PRCA Commissioner Karl Stressman said in the release. “ProRodeoTV is the future, and the future is now.”

“The response has been surprising,” said the release, referring to international participation in live-streaming of the finals rodeo in past years.

“Viewers from New Zealand, Australia and Brazil, not to mention Mexico and Canada, have followed along to see who would be crowned WNFR champion and who would take home gold buckles.”
