Prep basketball roundup: Gil’s free throws lift Ogden to overtime win against Juab

MANTI — Kohl Gil made two free throws with two seconds left to give Ogden High boys basketball a 53-51 overtime win against Juab on Friday night at the Manti Tournament.

Gil shot 6 of 6 from the foul line for the Tigers (4-2).

Alex Howard led Ogden with 14 points and Landen Smith scored 11. Smith blocked Juab’s potential game-winning shot attempt at the end of the fourth quarter.

WEBER 65, BOX ELDER 49

KAYSVILLE — Weber took a 31-17 lead at the break in a win over Box Elder in the Northern Utah Shootout at Davis High.

Hunter Schenck led all scorers with 21 points and four 3-pointers for Weber (2-3). Griffyn Doughty tallied 15 points and two treys. Cannon DeVries added 12 points and Tukker Higgs tallied 11 with three 3-pointers.

Jackson McKee paced Box Elder (2-3) with 12 points and Elijah Kersey added 10.

NORTHRIDGE 58, LONE PEAK 55

LAYTON — Sam Sivulich knocked down a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left to put Northridge up 56-55, then Kade Sparrow made two free throws to secure a dramatic win for Northridge (3-2).

Sivulich led Northridge with 18 points and four-3 pointers three days after he made a buzzer-beater in a win at Cottonwood. Sparrow scored 12 points and Landon Woll scored 12.

Northridge trailed 46-38 going into the fourth quarter and outscored previously unbeaten Lone Peak 20-9 in the final frame.

DAVIS 81, SKY VIEW 51

KAYSVILLE — Davis scored 49 points in the second half to blast previously unbeaten Sky View (5-1) at the Darts’ Northern Utah Shootout.

Rex Sunderland led Davis (4-0) with 25 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Sawyer Cottrell added 15 points, three assists and three steals. Colby Sims chipped in 11 points and three steals, and Henry Ihrig totaled 10 points and seven rebounds.

Davis scored a whopping 35 points off 20 Sky View turnovers and scored 50 points in the paint.

WOODS CROSS 87, TAYLORSVILLE 52

KAYSVILLE — Jaxon Smith shot 7 of 7 from the 3-point line and Woods Cross hammered Taylorsville 74-41 through the first three quarters in the second day of the Northern Utah Shootout at Davis High.

Smith led Woods Cross (3-2) with 23 points and three steals. Zach DeLange and Mason Bendinger each scored 25 points, with DeLange dishing five assists, and Nic Hogan scored 10.

Woods Cross scored 32 points off 22 turnovers and outscored Taylorsville 52-20 in the paint.

MORGAN 59, PROVIDENCE HALL 43

MORGAN — Morgan led Providence Hall (3-2) by 29-17 at the half in a home win.

Nixan Ordyna led Morgan (5-1) with 15 points and three 3-pointers. Aiden Harris scored 11 points and Josh Criddle added 10.

KEARNS 70, SYRACUSE 53

KEARNS — Syracuse trailed 57-24 after three quarters in a loss at Kearns (5-1).

Brock Williams led all scorers with 19 points and three 3-pointers for Syracuse (2-4). Carter Semrow added 11 points and three treys.

COPPER HILLS 70, LAYTON 66

LEHI — Layton led 54-48 going to the fourth quarter but got outscored 22-12 from there in a loss.

KJ Miller led Layton (1-5) with 19 points with four 3-pointers. Connor Wilson scored 18 points and Mekhi Martin added 13. LHS made 10 3-pointers as a team.

MANTI 74, OGDEN 71

MANTI — Ogden missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer in a loss to Manti (3-1) at the Manti Tourney late Thursday.

Alex Howard scored a game-high 22 points for Ogden (3-2) before fouling out. Jack Blodgett added 16 points while Ozzy Norton tallied 10.

PLEASANT VIEW — Weber trailed 17-16 at the half, then held Tooele (0-3) to eight points in the second half for a home win.

Katelynn Butler led Weber (2-2) with 14 points. Hadley Howell and Jazmyn Bennett each scored four points.

BOX ELDER 76, FARMINGTON 60

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder led 60-38 going into the fourth quarter in a win over Farmington.

Kamryn Peterson led Box Elder (4-2) with 19 points on three 3-pointers. Ashlyn Wright and Ashlyn Reeder each scored 18 points. Wright hit four treys and Reeder hit three.

Delaney Baker led Farmington (1-4) with 17 points. Courtney Christiansen added 16 points with four 3-pointers.

SYRACUSE 42, NORTHRIDGE 39

SYRACUSE — Northridge led 15-13 after one quarter, then Syracuse took a 22-20 lead into halftime in a close contest.

Gracie Sorensen led Syracuse (5-1) with 14 points. Danielle Steed scored eight.

Kate Tueller led all scorers for Northridge (2-3) with 15 points and two 3-pointers. Madison Hosino added nine points.

NORTH SUMMIT 49, ROY 45

PRESTON, Idaho — Roy led 37-36 after three quarters but was outscored 13-8 in the final frame in a loss to North Summit (2-2) at the Preston Indian Tournament.

Sha’Kyra Joiner led Roy (2-3) with 10 points and two 3-pointers. Rhylee Beise added eight points and two treys.

DAVIS 49, PLEASANT GROVE 42

PLEASANT GROVE — Davis outscored Pleasant Grove (4-1) by a 30-24 margin in the second half for a road win Thursday.

Kendra Kitchen led Davis (4-0) with 16 points and two 3-pointers. Sierra Passey added 13 points with two treys an Kylee Mabry scored 11 points.

BOUNTIFUL 64, MAPLE MOUNTAIN 57

SPANISH FORK — Bountiful outscored Maple Mountain 26-16 in the fourth quarter to get a road win.

Taylor Harvey scored 12 of her team-high 26 points in the fourth quarter for the Redhawks (4-1). Riley Johnson added 11 points.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 63, BEAR RIVER 34

LAYTON — Layton Christian led 40-13 at the half in a big win over Bear River on Thursday.

Ruzgar Boyle led all scorers with 18 points and four 3-pointers for Layton Christian (4-0). Bianca Silva scored 16 points with two treys and Mia Jones added 15 points on three 3-pointers.

Gracie Riley led Bear River (1-4) with 14 points and Shaylee McKee scored six.
