Prep basketball roundup: Northridge girls upset Mountain Ridge

HERRIMAN — Northridge High girls basketball led 27-23 at the half on the way to a 50-44 road upset win at 6A Mountain Ridge (9-2) on Thursday.

Kate Tueller led Northridge (5-5) with 11 points. Aubree Reeve and Madison Hosino each scored 10 points and Hali’a Mislang-Darden added nine.

SYRACUSE 59, RIVERTON 35

SYRACUSE — Syracuse used a 20-4 second quarter to beat Riverton (8-2).

Whitney Sorensen led all scorers with 19 points for Syracuse (9-1). Skylee Hopkins hit four 3-pointers on her way to 12 points.

BOUNTIFUL 54, MURRAY 25

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful outscored Murray 30-11 in the second half in a home win.

Taylor Harvey led Bountiful (6-3) with 15 points. Claire Cook scored 12 points and Lizzy Mcconkie tallied 10.

RIDGELINE 60, BOX ELDER 33

NORTH LOGAN — Box Elder was outscored 18-4 in the second quarter in a road loss at Ridgeline (12-0).

Tegan Mecham scored nine points to lead Box Elder (6-4) and Ashlyn Reeder tallied seven.

HURRICANE 45, OGDEN 44

CEDAR CITY — Ogden led 23-13 at the half, but was outscored 19-11 in the fourth quarter in a tournament loss to Hurricane (6-5) at Canyon View High School.

Ashley Christensen led Ogden (4-6) with 15 points and three 3-pointers. Lucy Ballard added eight points.

PAROWAN 60, OGDEN 53

CEDAR CITY — Ogden trailed 40-37 going into the fourth quarter but couldn’t get closer in a tournament loss to Parowan (5-5) on Wednesday.

Grace Pulley and Ashley Christensen each scored 16 points to lead Ogden (4-5).

BONNEVILLE 49, ROY 23

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville led 25-7 at the half in a home win over Roy on Wednesday.

Libby Jensen led all scorers with 14 points and two 3-pointers for Bonneville (3-8). Courtnie Porter scored 13 points.

Sha’kyra Joiner paced Roy (4-5) with six points. Nicole WIlliams and Masie Scholer each scored five points.

BOUNTIFUL 49, LAYTON 37

LAYTON — Bountiful ran out to a 20-10 lead after one quarter in a win at Layton on Wednesday.

Taylor Harvey scored a game-high 15 points for Bountiful (5-3) and Lizzy Mcconkie added 13 points.

Jayden Seegmiller led Layton (4-5) with 13 points. Lauryn Hall scored 11.

FARMINGTON 59, BRIGHTON 51

FARMINGTON — Farmington took a 33-21 lead into the break in a Wednesday home win over Brighton (3-6).

Delaney Baker led Farmington (4-4) with 19 points. Maddie Hauck added 11 points and Victoria Clinger added eight points on two 3-pointers.

UTAH MILITARY 33, UMA-CW 16

RIVERDALE — Utah Military Academy-Hill Field took an 11-0 lead after one quarter in a season-opening win over Utah Military Academy-Camp Williams (0-3) on Wednesday.

Kendall Prieto led all scorers with 12 points for Utah Military-HF (1-0). Rosemary Arana and Malaya Larsen each scored seven points.

WEST VALLEY — Kekoa Beard scored 24 points and Ben Lomond won its eighth consecutive game by defeating American Prep Academy-West Valley (7-4).

Preston Williams chipped in 17 points for Ben Lomond (8-3). Caleb Alexander added 16 points and Trenton Harris scored 12.

TAYLORSVILLE 44, CLEARFIELD 27

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield trailed 19-3 after one quarter in a home loss to Taylorsville (1-9).

Peyton Kotter led Clearfield (1-8) with 10 points and three 3-pointers. Lincoln Church scored seven.

ROY 65, NORTHRIDGE 53

RIVERTON — Roy led 35-14 at halftime and defeated Northridge at the Riverton holiday tournament Wednesday.

Spencer Bessinger and Dominic Anguiano each totaled 19 points for Roy (2-8), with Bessinger adding seven rebounds and Angiuano dishing seven assists.

Northridge (6-5) got 22 points and eight rebounds from Sam Sivulich. Landon Woll added seven points.

CYPRUS 59, SYRACUSE 51

DRAPER — Syracuse was outscored 21-13 by Cyprus (4-4) in the fourth quarter in a Wednesday loss at Juan Diego’s Eagle Holiday Shootout.

Carter Semrow led Syracuse (2-6) with 14 points and two 3-pointers. Brandon Clark scored 11 points with three treys and Brock Williams added 10 points.

GREEN CANYON 57, BOUNTIFUL 54

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful was outscored 14-9 in the pivotal third quarter in a home loss Wednesday to Green Canyon (6-4).

Carson Smith led Bountiful (4-4) with 13 points. Sam Stevenson and Trevin Ostler each scored 12 points.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 72, MURRAY 61

SALT LAKE CITY — Layton Christian trailed 42-33 at the half but used a 19-8 fourth-quarter advantage to beat Murray (5-4) at the Olympus tournament Wednesday.

Sammy Ishimwe led LCA (6-3) with 14 points. Timmie Olubisi scored 12 points and Shorn Solomom tallied 10.

MORGAN 70, NORTH SUMMIT 50

MORGAN — Morgan led 38-21 at the half in a win over North Summit (4-7) on Wednesday.

Nixan Ordyna scored a game-high 28 points with three 3-pointers for Morgan (8-1). Josh Criddle tallied 12 points. Alex Fisher and Eli Bailey each added 11 points.

UMA-CW 53, UTAH MILITARY 34

RIVERDALE — Utah Military Academy-Hill Field was outscored in each quarter in a home loss to Utah Military Academy-Camp Williams (1-9) on Wednesday.

Hunter Keller and Quin Ekberg each scored 10 points for Utah Military-HF (0-3).
