Prep roundup: Bonneville, Roy remain undefeated in girls soccer region play

BOUNTIFUL — Sadie Beardall scored on a Summer Diamond corner in the seventh minute of extra time to send Bonneville High girls soccer to a 3-2 win Thursday at Bountiful in a battle of region unbeatens.

Diamond got Bonneville (9-2, 5-0 Region 5) on the board in the second minute. Mia Miconi scored in the 57th minute on a Beardall assist.

Bountiful (8-3, 4-1) didn’t report stats.

ROY 2, KEARNS 0

KEARNS — Lylian Rosenberg kept a clean sheet while Lexus Bertagnolli and Sarah Clark each netted in the second half as Roy (7-4, 7-0 Region 2) won at Kearns (6-5, 3-4).

OGDEN 9, SOUTH SUMMIT 0

OGDEN — Ogden netted seven first-half goals in a shutout over South Summit (4-6, 0-2 Region 13).

Emily Blackford and Grace Malan shared the clean sheet for Ogden (5-3, 2-0). Tori Kalista had two goals. Neveah Peregrina had a goal and four assists. Grace Pulley and Bella Gray each scored and assisted once.

Sae Obayashi, Ajae Belliston, Maya Robinson and Brianna Kalista each scored one goal.

BEN LOMOND 8, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 0

LAYTON — Ofa Arruguin kept a clean sheet and Jazzy Nolasco scored a hat trick as Ben Lomond blanked Layton Christian (0-2, 0-2 Region 13).

Autumn Rodriguez, Lindsay Church, Shakira Nolasco, Koda Hoaglin and Mel Solis each netted once for Ben Lomond (4-4, 2-0).

SYRACUSE 3, WEBER 2

SYRACUSE — Abby Schofield had one goal and one assist to lead Syracuse past Weber.

Mia Hammond and Cortney Cobabe each netted once for Syracuse (8-4, 5-2 Region 1). Abby Affleck assisted one goal.

Callie Price tallied on goal and one assist for Weber (4-7, 1-6). Olivia Hemming also scored.

LAYTON 4, CLEARFIELD 0

LAYTON — Erin Bailey scored a hat trick as Layton shut out Clearfield (2-8, 0-7 Region 1).

Braelyn Baclayon opened the scoring for the Lancers (8-3, 6-1) in the first half. Rilee Godfrey got the shutout in goal. Brook Nelson and Hannah Roe assisted one goal each.

ST. JOSEPH 5, MAESER PREP 2

OGDEN — Samantha Munson tallied three goals and one assist to lead St. Joseph past Maeser Prep.

Abby Gough added one goal and one assist for St. Joseph (4-3). Cate Schmeling netted once while Ellen Rickerd and Ciera Aguirre each assisted one score.

MORGAN 4, GRANTSVILLE 1

GRANTSVILLE — Lacie Poll scored two goals and assisted another to lead Morgan past Grantsville.

Aspen Telford and Macy Burton scored one goal for Morgan (7-1, 2-0 Region 13). Jayda Jones, Brecklee Charlton and Miya Turner assisted one goal each.

OGDEN 3, SUMMIT ACADEMY 0

OGDEN — Ogden swept Summit Academy by scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-16.

Rees Bockwoldt led Ogden (3-7) with 15 kills, Megan Aardema tallied five kills, 32 assists and six digs. Ella Tuttle added four kills, four blocks and four digs.

CLEARFIELD 3, WEBER 2

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield won a marathon match over Weber by scores of 25-20, 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-4.

Savannah Anderton paced Clearfield (7-4, 1-1 Region 1) with 13 kills. McKenna Steiner added 10 kills, four blocks and one ace. Brooklyn Hawks had 14 digs and two blocks. Delaney Rasband had 39 assists.

Weber (7-9, 0-2) did not report stats.

FREMONT 3, LAYTON 1

PLAIN CITY — Fremont downed Layton in four sets: 25-12, 25-27, 25-16, 25-16.

Fremont (3-3, 2-0 Region 1) did not report stats.

Logan Lindsay paced Layton (3-7, 0-2) with 12 kills. Kristen Harrison tallied 14 digs while Mercedes Lopez added 24 assists and two aces.

BONNEVILLE 3, ROY 1

ROY — Bonneville (6-6) beat Roy (6-5) in four sets by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 27-25.

For the Lakers, Kimi Heslop had 35 assists, Kelsie Heslop hit 15 kills with 22 digs, Macy Graybeal picked up 32 digs with three service aces and Mylee Pedersen had nine kills with 10 digs.

ST. JOSEPH 3, APA DRAPER 1

DRAPER — In the team’s Region 17 opener, St. Joseph (11-2, 1-0 Region 17) opened its account in region games with a four-set win at APA Draper by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 25-15.

Sarah Snell led the Jayhawks with 15 assists, 10 kills and 10 digs. Lexy Bombela had 18 assists with 11 digs, Halen Moon hit 10 kills with 11 digs, Katelyn Sumner had 24 digs and Montse Hernandez picked up 23 digs.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 3, EAST 0

SALT LAKE CITY — Layton Christian won in straight sets at East: 25-15, 25-13, 25-18.

Mariana Said led Layton Christian (2-0) with 13 kills and five blocks. Giulia Carelli added eight aces and seven blocks

Lily McGuckin dished out 21 assists while Salama Demeska had 17 digs and six aces.
