Prep roundup: Weber soccer clinches share of Region 1; Clontz walk-off HR wins for Fremont baseball

PLEASANT VIEW — Caleb Graves scored two goals as Weber High boys soccer beat Farmington (10-5, 6-5 Region 1) by a 2-0 tally Wednesday to clinch at least a share of a second straight Region 1 title.

Collin Jones assisted both goals for Weber (12-2, 9-2) and Stockton Short kept the shutout.

SYRACUSE 3, FREMONT 2 (OT)

SYRACUSE — Corbin Bodily scored in extra time to send Syracuse past Fremont.

Ryker Smith and Jack Cook each netted in the second half for Syracuse (11-3, 8-3 Region 1). Ryken Hamblin had two assists and Smith notched one.

Fremont (7-8-1, 5-6), which led 2-0 at the half, did not report stats.

LAYTON CHRISTIAN 7, BEN LOMOND 1

LAYTON — Theo Araujo and Enzo Jacques scored two goals each and No. 1 Layton Christian scored five goals in the second half to beat No. 17 Ben Lomond in the second round of the 3A playoffs.

Danilo Obradovic, Davi Paulino and Marcelo Morais scored for Layton Christian (14-3). LCA will host No. 8 Juan Diego at 1 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Ben Lomond ends the season with a 4-12 record.

MORGAN 7, EMERY 0

MORGAN — Tyson Adams and Ty Warner scored two goals each as No. 6 Morgan advanced in the 3A state tournament.

Jayson Ferrin, Rory Williams and Jett Beckstrom scored one goal each for Morgan (11-5). Williams and Cameron Burt assisted two goals. Warner, Owen Tolman and Bryan Allgaier assisted one. Braden Howe and Garrett Genderson combined for the shutout.

The Trojans travel to No. 3 Juab at 1 p.m. Saturday in the state quarterfinals.

BASEBALL

FREMONT 6, DAVIS 5 (8)

PLAIN CITY — Bridger Clontz hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to send Fremont to a walk-off win over Davis.

Clontz added a double and scored twice for Fremont (20-1, 14-0 Region 1). Gavin Douglas batted 4 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI. Bodee Goins had two hits and one RBI. Logan Penland hit an RBI double. Calvin Morrow earned the win in 2 1/3 relief innings.

Easton Baggett batted 2 for 4 and drove in one for Davis (10-11, 7-7). Tyson Elkins batted 2 for 3 and Walker Jensen hit a double.

WEBER 9, CLEARFIELD 5

PLEASANT VIEW — Bennett Jensen had three RBIs without a hit and Weber scored all nine runs in the fourth inning to beat Clearfield.

Luke Erickson batted 2 for 4 with a double for Weber (9-12, 5-9 Region 1). Dominic Salerno hit a two-run double. Dax Rees earned the win, scattering three hits over four innings.

Dawson Burton hit a three-run home run for Clearfield (5-16, 2-12). Devan Harmer and Peyton Kotter each hit a double.

ROY 6, WEST 5

ROY — Ryder Williams and Teyo Gil each had two hits and one RBI as Roy bested West.

Ethan Herrick drove in two and Justin Miller one for Roy (10-11, 8-6 Region 2). Connor Munoz pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.

BOX ELDER 5, BONNEVILLE 3

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Box Elder scored three runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and take the lead.

Ryan Griffin, Kade Hall, Tommy Greer and Ashton Burton each hit 2 for 4 for Box Elder (9-12, 4-8 Region 5). KJ Argyle pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

Kole Minnoch pitched six innings, allowed one earned run and drove in a run at the plate for Bonneville (3-15, 0-11).

BEAR RIVER 3, RIDGELINE 1

GARLAND — Ashton Harrow pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out six as Bear River won the first game of a first-place series with Ridgeline.

Hunter Smoot hit 2 for 4 with a triple and scored two runs for Bear River (18-5, 11-2 Region 11). Easton Potter tripled and drove in a run.

FARMINGTON 11, SYRACUSE 4

FARMINGTON — Jack Hansen batted 2 for 4 with a triple and four RBIs as Farmington beat Syracuse.

Tucker Wall went 2 for 3 with a triple for Farmington (15-8, 11-6 Region 1). Easton Wight went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Park Romney batted 2 for 4 with a double and drove in one and Mason Cook hit a double.

Easton Hamblin, Carson Miles and Isaac Turley each drove in one with a single for Syracuse (5-16, 5-9).

NORTHRIDGE 7, VIEWMONT 6

LAYTON — Landon Crisler hit two home runs and drove in four to lead Northridge past Viewmont

Tyler Asbury batted 2 for 3 with a home run and drove in two for Northridge (10-9, 5-6 Region 5). Jed Hadley added an RBI. Jory Durrant pitched 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts for the win.

Gatlin Solomon hit a double and drove in four for Viewmont (12-6, 8-3). Luke Jacobs batted 3 for 5 with a solo home run and a double. Jaden Campbell went 2 for 4 with a double and Rhett Peterson hit an RBI double.

WOODS CROSS 10, BOUNTIFUL 2

WOODS CROSS — Dax Weierman batted 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Woods Cross to a win over Bountiful.

Blake Stanger hit a solo home run for Woods Cross (15-6, 9-2 Region 5). Moffat went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Taylor Ayala batted 2 for 3 with a double and pitched a complete-game, three-hitter with six strikeouts.

James Jordan hit a double for Bountiful (13-8, 7-4). Dallin Maxwell hit an RBI single and Truman Duryea added a hit.

SOFTBALL

BEN LOMOND 16, NORTH SUMMIT 6

OGDEN — Elliot Hauser batted 3 for 3 with a double and five RBIs to lead Ben Lomond past North Summit.

Marley McMillen went 2 for 4 with a home run and drove in two for Ben Lomond (6-13). Dorothy Jenson batted 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Reagan Wilcox hit a three-run triple.

BOX ELDER 5, BOUNTIFUL 3

BOUNTIFUL — Maygen-Raye Kaleikini hit two home runs and drove in four as Box Elder handed Bountiful its first region loss.

Kamryn Peterson batted 3 for 4 with a double for Box Elder (16-10, 6-3 Region 5). Ashley Hammers hit 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Tegan Mecham added a double. Hammers earned the win, allowing three hits and striking out three in four innings.

Athena Tongaonevai batted 2 for 3 with a double for Bountiful (14-5-1, 8-1). Katelyn Rogers drove in all three runs.

SOUTH SUMMIT 18, OGDEN 0

KAMAS — Ogden (3-9, 1-6 Region 13) did not collect a hit and allowed 14 runs in the first inning in a region loss at South Summit.
