LAYTON — After Syracuse kicked a field goal on the first possession in overtime, Colby Browning hit Carson Stokes for a 26-yard touchdown pass to lift Northridge to a 27-24 region home win over the Titans on Friday.

Northridge (2-1, 1-0 Region 1) scored on a Dorian Ishmael 2-yard run to forge a 7-7 halftime tie.

Syracuse (0-3, 0-1) drew first blood with a 10-yard pass from Bridger Hamblin to Tanner Judd. The Titans took a 14-7 lead on a Hamblin 1-yard plunge.

The Knights answered with an 8-yard pass from Browning to Jacob Rhoades late in the third quarter, but missed the extra point for a 14-13 Syracuse lead.

Browning scored from one yard out in the fourth, and the Knights converted a two-point pass to take a 21-14 lead.

Syracuse forced extra football when Hamblin connected with Cobe Velez for a 41-yard touchdown pass and Kobe Carlson kicked the extra point with 31 seconds left in regulation.

FREMONT 45, SALEM HILLS 24

PLAIN CITY — Mitch Stratford threw four touchdown passes and Fremont withstood a passing barrage by forcing four turnovers, the final one a pick-six, to defeat Salem Hills in their first home game of the season.

After Jorgen Olsen hit Jake Meuter for a 72-yard touchdown pass to put Salem Hills up 7-0, Stratford answered with touchdown passes to Jay Scott, Calvin Peterson and Chaedon Dayton to put Fremont (2-1) up 20-7 early in the second quarter.

Scott busted a 68-yard TD run in the frame to make it 27-10.

Salem Hills cut it to 27-24 in the third. But after a 36-yard field goal from Kendrick Bolos, Stratford connected with Jaxon Whitney on an 81-yard bomb to open the fourth quarter.

Two minutes later, Dayton returned an interception 71 yards for a TD and the final 45-24 tally.

Stratford finished 15 of 30 for 246 yards. Scott rushed for 143 yards.

Olsen was 27 of 46 for 413 yards but Fremont picked him off three times.

BONNEVILLE 20, BEAR RIVER 0

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville scored two touchdowns through the air and one on defense in a shutout win over Bear River.

Carter Harwood connected with Kieran Fry for a 19-yard scoring strike in the second quarter to give the Lakers (2-1) a 7-0 halftime lead. Harwood hit Jeff Criddle for a 14-yard passing score in the third quarter. Ryker Jensen returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

Bear River (1-2) could only manage 176 yards of total offense in the game and was held to 56 in the second half.

SKYRIDGE 28, ROY 20

ROY — Roy trailed 21-0 at the half on the way to their first loss of the season.

Skyridge scored its first-half points on two touchdown passes and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.

Roy (2-1) answered with three second-half scores but it wasn’t enough as Skyridge notched a decisive score in the fourth quarter.

LOGAN 48, OGDEN 26

LOGAN — Ogden (2-1) trailed Logan 21-19 at the half, but Logan scored three straight touchdowns to pull away late in a game played at Utah State.

Logan jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Chase Butler scored on a 26-yard run and a 5-yard pass from Bo Devries to pull the Tigers to 14-12 after one quarter. DeVries connected with Irving Gastelum for a 42-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter.

Butler scored his third touchdown on another pass from DeVries in the third quarter to cut the Logan lead to 28-26, but the Grizzlies answered with three scores for the final margin.

Rhyle Hanson put up 205 combined yards and Chase Butler had 125 combined yards to go with his three touchdowns.

VIEWMONT 31, GREEN CANYON 10

BOUNTIFUL — Robert Summerhays rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown to lead Viewmont over Green Canyon. 

Viewmont (2-1) jumped to an 18-0 lead thanks to a touchdown pass from Dutcher Lines to Kaden Smith, a Gabe Johnson field goal and a scoring run from Wyatt Curnow.

Green Canyon scored a field goal as the first half clock expired and a third-quarter touchdown.

The Vikings responded with a Summerhays touchdown plunge and an interception return by Sam Trusty.

GRANGER 28, BOUNTIFUL 21

WEST VALLEY CITY — Granger scored the game-winning touchdown with 29 seconds left to beat Bountiful.

Granger took a 7-0 lead and Bountiful (1-2) responded with a Zach Riordan 11-yard run to tie the game 7-7.

Granger led 21-7 at halftime. The Braves tied the game on a 9-yard pass from Riordan to Hudson Gallagher and a 3-yard Riordan-to-Chance Sterrett scoring strike.

WOODS CROSS 56, WEST 21

WOODS CROSS — Woods Cross (2-1) quarterback Carston Naegle threw five touchdown passes and ran for one more as the Wildcats routed West 56-21 for their second win of the year.

Naegle threw two TD passes to both Braden Freestone and Jordan Johnson plus the fifth one to Cole Wardle. Wardle rushed for a touchdown, as did Jemmar Thomas.

MOUNTAIN CREST 13, BOX ELDER 7

LOGAN — In a late-kicking game at Utah State, Box Elder (2-1) fell in a hard-fought contest against Mountain Crest.

MILFORD 42, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 0

MILFORD — Layton Christian (1-2) gave up four Milford touchdowns in the second quarter and trailed 36-0 at the half in the road loss at Milford.
