OGDEN — On Friday, Feb. 15, Ogden High School will induct five members and one team into its athletic Hall of Fame.
They are Susan Norton Dart, Bard Ferrin, Riley Cook, Fantley Jones Jr., Lee Thompson and the 1978 boys tennis team.
Four members of the 1978 tennis team are being recognized: Hank Kennedy, Mike Benson, Blake Wilcox and Dave Edman. While at OHS, they were three-time region champions and two-time state champions.
Benson received a full scholarship to Brown University, Kennedy and Edman each got scholarships to Utah State and Wilcox got a scholarship to Santa Barbara City College in California.
Dart graduated from Ogden in 1987. Dart participated in volleyball, basketball and track and field while at Ogden, winning the state championship in the 300-meter hurdles.
Her senior year, she received the OHS Gold Watch Award for Outstanding Female Athlete.
Cook graduated from Ogden in 1999 where he lettered in cross country and track all four years of high school.
He was a three-time state champ in 1999 in the 800, 1600 and 3200-meter races. He was a two-time All-Region honoree in the 1600 and 3200.
Ferrin graduated from Ogden in 1969, earning two varsity letters in tennis, football, basketball and track and field.
He was a member of the Tigers’ 4A state championship football team his sophomore year. Ferrin’s school record in the javelin at Ogden High still stands.
Jones Jr. graduated from Ogden in 1982, earning three letters in basketball and two each in track and football. He was a first-team All-Region selection in football and basketball and qualified for the state track meet in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races.
Thompson graduated from Ogden in 1978. He was a two-year letterman in football and a one-year letterman in baseball. While at OHS, he was a member of the JROTC rifle team and played football, basketball, baseball and he wrestled.
