KAMAS — Carter Thackeray hit four straight baskets in the fourth quarter that helped Morgan (14-5, 6-0 Region 13) boys basketball overcome South Summit 62-52 and clinch at least a share of the Region 13 championship Wednesday.
The Trojans closed the game on a 12-2 run after South Summit, which shot 23 of 27 from the foul line, tied the game 50-50 with a pair of free throws.
Trey Miles led Morgan with 15 points, Thackeray had 12 and Kaleb Calderwood added 10 points.
The Trojans outscored the Wildcats 16-10 in the second quarter to take 30-25 halftime lead and held South Summit leading scorer Kael Atkinson to just four points.
Morgan can clinch the title outright with a win in their next game Friday when hosting Grantsville.
