BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder girls basketball outscored Farmington 32-16 over the second and third quarters to take control in each team’s region opener, winning 59-43 on Friday night.

Emily Isaacson’s 19 points led all scorers for the Bees (8-5, 1-0 Region 5) while Jenna Mortensen netted 14 and Morgan Reeder added 10.

Malory Chisholm led Farmington (6-6, 0-1) with 13 points and Brooklyn Perkins scored 11.

FREMONT 67, WEBER 42

PLAIN CITY — Fremont used a 21-8 second quarter to take a 41-22 halftime lead in a region win over Weber.

Timea Gardiner led all scorers with 21 points for Fremont (12-1, 5-0 Region 1). Haylee Doxey had 18 points and Daycee Townsend added 10.

Sarah Pollard scored 11 points with five assists for Weber (9-4, 2-2) and MaKaylee Nye tallied 10 points.

LAYTON 54, NORTHRIDGE 44 (OT)

LAYTON — Layton outscored Northridge 15-5 in overtime for a region win.

Kamryn Black paced Layton (10-2, 3-1 Region 1) with 14 points. Meg Edwards and Kinlee McMillan each added 12 points and Hailey Cuppett scored 10.

Taylor Morris led all scorers with 19 points for Northridge (4-10, 0-5) while Michaela Harris added 13.

VIEWMONT 48, BOUNTIFUL 36

BOUNTIFUL — Viewmont took a 23-19 lead into the break and slowly pulled away from Bountiful in the second half for a region win.

Karlia Gunnell led Viewmont (4-8, 1-0 Region 5) with 13 points while Emma Carr netted 11 points and Kierra Gunnell added 10.

Baily Jenkins led all scorers with 21 points for the Braves (5-8, 0-1).

WOODS CROSS 38, ROY 31

WOODS CROSS — Roy led 18-12 at the break but Woods Cross responded with a strong second half to open region play with a home win.

Liz Howey and Grace Browning each scored eight points to pace Woods Cross (3-8, 1-0 Region 5).

Saige Nielsen scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Royals (0-11, 0-1).

BONNEVILLE 64,

BEN LOMOND 38

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville took a 38-12 halftime lead in a home win over Ben Lomond.

Jenna Czarnecki led Bonneville (9-4, 3-0 Region 11) with 11 points and two 3-pointers. Ashley Croyle and Karly Conolly each scored nine points for the Lakers.

Jasmine Forte paced Ben Lomond (3-9, 1-2) with 11 points and LaDeitra Hobson added 10.

OGDEN 35, PARK CITY 30

OGDEN — Park City led 30-27 led in the second half, then Ogden finished the game on an 8-0 run to pick up its first region win.

Brynn Soelberg scored a game-high 16 points to lead Ogden (3-9, 1-2 Region 11). Alayna Brown and Makin Clarke each added five points.

OGDEN — St. Joseph fell behind 21-3 to North Summit in the first quarter and could not recover in a region home loss.

Double-double machine Virginia Tomon led St. Joseph (7-6, 0-2 Region 16) with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Sydney Brown added seven points and Kathleen Von Hoffman had eight rebounds.

DUCHESNE 41, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 30

LAYTON — Layton Christian went into the second quarter tied 7-7 with Duchesne but was outscored 14-7 in the second stanza in a home region loss.

Danyale Thomas led LCA (4-10, 1-1 Region 16) with 14 points and Joanna Oladapo added seven.

SYRACUSE — Davis efficiently put away Syracuse by shooting 22 of 40 from the field to pick up a region road win.

Tyson Garff scored 18 points to lead Davis (8-6, 2-1 Region 1) while grabbing six rebounds and two steals. Brendon Redford added 15 points.

Ty Burke led Syracuse (5-9, 1-2) with eight points and Blake Soifua added six. Davis held the Titans to 2 of 13 from the 3-point line.

BOUNTIFUL 58, VIEWMONT 53

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful’s 23-8 third-quarter advantage was enough to send the Braves to a win over Viewmont to open Region 5 play.

Brig Willard scored 19 points for Bountiful (8-6, 1-0 Region 5) with five rebounds and four assists. Robert Whaley added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Camron Chism totaled 13 points and four assists.

Parker Kearns scored 19 points for Viewmont (2-10, 0-1) and Gavin Chowen added 17.

FARMINGTON 68, BOX ELDER 51

BRIGHAM CITY — Kendall Draxler went nuts while Box Elder only managed two free throws in a decisive 21-2 third quarter as Farmington won its first region opener.

Draxler finished with 20 points, 12 of them in the third, to lead Farmington (8-6, 1-0 Region 5). McKay Thomsen added 10 points and Ben Swain nine in the win.

Box Elder (2-9, 0-1) got 14 points apiece from Ronnie Smith and Parker Buchanon.

WOODS CROSS 72, ROY 48

WOODS CROSS — Woods Cross ran out to a 17-5 lead over Roy and never looked back to win a region opener.

Tyler Roberts led all scorers with 16 points for Woods Cross (10-2, 1-0 Region 5). Elliot Spencer added 13 points while Brant Jerman and Jake Howe each scored 12.

Easton Bitton led the Royals (4-9, 0-1) with 10 points while Ryan Hansen and Porter Thackeray scored nine apiece.

BEN LOMOND 44

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Bonneville steadily outscored Ben Lomond each quarter to pull away for a region win Friday.

Zach Alspaugh totaled 17 points and seven assists for Bonneville (8-4, 2-1 Region 11). Hank Bushell added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Ben Lomond (6-6, 1-2) got 12 points from Chans Edjamboya and 10 from Jake Robinson.

PARK CITY 66, OGDEN 44

OGDEN — Ogden trailed Park City 24-21 at the half but was outscored 42-23 in the second half in a region home loss.

Austin Richards led Ogden (3-9, 0-3 Region 11) with 15 points and Isaiah Coria added 14.

GARLAND — Bear River took a 19-6 lead after one quarter and held off Green Canyon for a region-opening win.

Mark Huber led all scorers with 25 points for Bear River (12-3, 1-0 Region 12). Ren Fonnesbeck netted 18 and Wyatt Roholt scored 16, while Kelton Summers posted 10 points and 10 rebounds.

MORGAN 54, SOUTH SUMMIT 42

MORGAN — Morgan led 30-19 at the half on the way to a region home win over South Summit.

Seth Hadley scored 16 points to lead Morgan (10-4, 2-0 Region 13). Trey Miles netted 14 points and Kaleb Calderwood added 10. Miles and Hadley each hit two 3-pointers.

OGDEN — St. Joseph trailed 26-24 after one quarter and couldn’t keep up with North Summit in a region home loss.

Sayveon Armstrong led St. Joseph (6-8, 0-2 Region 16) with 20 points. Harry Chen and CJ Kierejewski each scored 13 points while Gavin Andersen added 10.

LAYTON — Layton Christian led 49-27 at the half in a region win over Duchesne.

Lino Saez led Layton Christian (8-6, 2-0 Region 16) with 26 points while Sam Muller added 18 and Micah Petty scored 13.
