OGDEN — The hero of the Ogden vs. Bonneville game was once again Nick Freeman, just not the same way as last year.

In March, Freeman had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, his throwing arm. It kept him out of baseball season and pretty much ended his chances of playing quarterback this year after he threw for 321 yards and four touchdowns last year in a dramatic comeback at Bonneville.

He didn’t know if he was going to play football this year. After Friday, he was glad he did.

Freeman intercepted Lakers quarterback Carter Harwood in the red zone in the final seconds, sealing a dramatic 14-10 win over rival Bonneville and setting off a madhouse celebration in the Ogden stands.
