BOUNTIFUL — Keaton Lamb kicked an extra point in the second overtime to lift Box Elder to a 21-20 victory over Bountiful in region action Friday.

The teams were tied at 14 after regulation. Box Elder missed a field goal on the first possession of overtime but a Braves fumble forced the second overtime.

In the second extra period, Bountiful got the ball first and capped the drive on a 1-yard Brig Willard scoring dive. The extra point was wide left, opening the door for the Bees.

Parker Buchanan tossed two touchdown passes for Box Elder (4-1, 1-0 Region 5). Bernard Pena scampered in from 14 yards out for the overtime score.

Willard had a hand in all the Bountiful (2-3, 0-1) scoring. He tossed a touchdown pass to Hudson Gallagher and caught a scoring pass from Zach Riordan in addition to the overtime plunge.

NORTHRIDGE 38, CLEARFIELD 0

LAYTON — Northridge took a 10-0 lead into halftime, then scored four second-stanza touchdowns to claim a shutout region victory over Clearfield.

Colby Browning tossed touchdown passes of 14 and 5 yards to Jacob Rhoades. Dorian Ishmael and Ryker Schenck each scored a rushing touchdown. Logan Smith booted a 28-yard field goal and Dawson Ishmael returned an interception 69 yards to complete the Northridge (3-2, 2-1 Region 1) scoring.

The Knights visit Fremont next Friday. Clearfield (1-4, 0-3) hosts Layton.

SYRACUSE 28, LAYTON 7

LAYTON — Syracuse led 14-7 at the half, then scored two touchdowns and shut out Layton in the second stanza to pick up the region road win.

Bridge Hamblin tossed a touchdown pass to Cobe Velez and added a rushing touchdown for Syracuse (1-4, 1-1 Region 1). Kaden Hanburg scored a rushing touchdown and Kavehi Fonua scooped up a fumble and returned it 85 yards to cap the Titan scoring.

Layton (1-4, 0-3) scored on a 10-yard pass from Landon Brant to Jonathan Hunt.

MORGAN 28, GRANTSVILLE 14

MORGAN — Carter Thackeray tossed four touchdown passes to lead Morgan to the region win over Grantsville.

Thackeray completed 25 of 33 for 278 yards, including scoring plays of 12 yards to Cameron Duke, 13 and 8 yards to Tyson Hurd, and 46 yards to Adam Buck. Porter Giles led the Trojans (3-2, 1-0 3A North) with 50 yards on the ground.

Grantsville (4-1, 0-1) scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull to 21-14 before the long Buck touchdown gave Morgan the final margin.

PARK CITY 45, BEN LOMOND 7

PARK CITY — Nyk Guzman connected with Tre Pearson for a 40-yard touchdown pass to pull Ben Lomond to a 13-7 deficit in the second quarter but Park City (3-2, 1-0 Region 11) closed the game with 32 straight points for the region win.

Zander Caffall led Ben Lomond (0-5, 0-1) with 52 rushing yards.

ALTA 36, WEBER 23

SANDY — Weber came within a 21-17 deficit on the road in the third quarter at Alta before the Hawks pulled away with the non-region win.

Warrior quarterback Kohl Hogan threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brandt Opheikens to tie the score 7-7 in the first quarter. The Warriors tied the game 14-14 when Hogan found Hudson Schenck for a 51-yard TD pass in the second quarter.

After a Pierce Callister field goal, the Hawks scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to go ahead 28-17. Weber (2-3) cut the lead to 28-23 on a Cye Wallace touchdown run but the Hawks scored another touchdown with less than a minute remaining to ice the game.

SKY VIEW 29, BEAR RIVER 17

GARLAND — Bear River led 14-7 in the third quarter but Sky View turned two interceptions into 15 points to claim a region road win. 

With Sky View (5-0, 1-0 Region 12) leading 7-0, Bradey Brown tossed a 4-yard pass to Chance Udy to put Bear River (2-3, 0-1) on the board with 30 seconds left in the first half but Sky View returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown to take a 14-7 lead into the locker room.

Cole Croney kicked a 45-yard field goal, then Brown connected with Parker Coombs for a 61-yard scoring strike to give Bear River a 17-14 lead with 7:07 left in the third. 

The Bobcats picked off Brown and returned the interception 45 yards for the go-ahead score with 8:01 left and added another score.

Brown finished 11 of 20 for 194 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Braxton Jeppsen led the Bears with 27 rushing yards on nine carries. The Bears managed 60 yards on the ground, compared to 228 for Sky View.

VIEWMONT 41, FARMINGTON 12

BOUNTIFUL — Robert Summerhays rushed for 225 yards on 33 carries as Viewmont turned a 14-6 halftime advantage into a big win to open Region play.

Farmington (0-5, 0-1 Region 5) cut it to 7-6 late in the first half when Nick Shirley returned a punt 41 yards for a score. The Phoenix later made it 14-12 when Parker Frasure returned a fumble 36 yards to pay dirt.

Dutcher Lines, who finished 16 of 23 for 225 yards for Viewmont (3-2, 1-0), ran in two scores and threw for another to put the game away after that.

PAROWAN 49, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 21

LAYTON — Layton Christian spotted Parowan a 28-0 lead midway through the second quarter before scoring in a home loss.

Dustin Moffo scored on a 5-yard run with 1:08 left in the second quarter to get Layton Christian (1-3) on the board. With 9:44 left in the game, Jaice Holt scored on a 6-yard run to cut the lead to 49-14.

The Eagles capped the scoring when Jaice Holt hit Trae Johnson for a 36-yard touchdown with 1:24 left.
