ROY — Bear River baseball took an 8-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh and snuffed out a Park City rally to advance 8-6 on Wednesday morning in a 4A one-loss bracket game at Roy High.
Parker Coombs batted 4 for 5 with one RBI and one run scored to pace the Bears (20-8). Braxton Jeppson hit 3 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.
Kelton Summers hit a double and picked up a one-out save. Hadley Davis earned the win, giving up six runs, none earned, over 6 2/3 innings.
BEAR RIVER 12, CEDAR 2
OGDEN — Bear River scored 12 unanswered runs to earn a five-inning victory Wednesday evening in a 4A one-loss bracket game at Lindquist Field.
Wyatt Roholt led the Bears (21-8), batting 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs, and beat a throw to the plate to score the 12th run and end the game.
“He will do whatever the team needs. He’s a pure team leader and loves to compete,” Bear River coach Donald Hawes said about Roholt. “The team is thrilled to come to this venue and compete.”
Tyler Hinkle, Easton Lish and Dillon Marble each had two hits, with Hinkle doubling twice and Lish once. Marble and Hinkle drove in one run apiece.
Hinkle pitched a complete game for the win, giving up five hits and two earned runs while striking out two.
The Bears, one of six teams still alive in the 4A playoffs, will face Spanish Fork at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lindquist Field. With a win, Bear River would play again at 7 p.m.
