HERRIMAN — Third-seeded Weber (11-5) scored a first-round win at No. 2-seed Herriman in the 6A playoffs.

Austin Allen scored in the 12th minute on an assist from Caleb Graves. Keaton Fuller netted in the 34th minute, assisted by Hunter Spencer. Jake Youngberg scored in the 54th minute to go up 3-0.

Weber will travel to face Cyprus at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17.

ROY 2, CORNER CANYON 1

ROY — Dallin Watkins netted the game-winner as two-seed Roy (10-6-1) downed No. 3-seed Corner Canyon in the first round of the 5A playoffs.

Deontae Ben also netted for the Royals, who will travel to Wasatch in the second round at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17.

DAVIS 2, RIVERTON 0

KAYSVILLE — Noah Larkin earned the shutout and top-seed Davis won a 6A first-round game over Riverton.

Tyson Bailey scored on a Kaden Chino assist in the first half for Davis (12-1-3). Colby Cook netted, assisted by Cole Anderl, for the final Dart score.

Davis will host Granger at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17.

LAYTON 2, TAYLORSVILLE 0

LAYTON — Dallin Smith and Gardner Francis each scored as second-seeded Layton shut out Taylorsville in a 6A first-round contest.

Josh Stuki and Lance Ferrin shared the clean sheet for Layton (13-3-1), who will play at Pleasant Grove at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17.

JORDAN 0 (7), VIEWMONT 0 (6)

BOUNTIFUL — After 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, fourth-seeded Jordan beat Region 5 champion Viewmont 7-6 in a shootout. The Vikings end the season at 10-2-4.

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Woods Cross gave up a second-half goal in a loss at top-seed Brighton in the first round of the 5A playoffs. The Wildcats end the season at 7-9-3.

COPPER HILLS 2, CLEARFIELD 1 (2OT)

WEST JORDAN — Four-seed Clearfield dropped a 6A first-round heartbreaker at Copper Hills in extra time. The Falcons finish the season at 7-9.

SYRACUSE 8, KEARNS 2

KEARNS — Dougray Humphrey hit a three-run home run and Hunter Van Fleet added a two-run shot to lift Syracuse past Kearns in the second round of the 6A playoffs.

Jaxson Christiansen tossed a complete game for the Titans (15-11), which advance to the quarterfinals against region foe Fremont at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, at Utah Valley University.

TIMPANOGOS 10, ROY 1

ROY — Roy scored a run in the fifth inning during a second-round loss to Timpanogos in the 5A tournament.

Cade Harris drove in Miles Gage for Roy (18-9), who will face Farmington at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the one-loss bracket at Kearns High.

FARMINGTON 8, SKYLINE 1

FARMINGTON — Sam Graves pitched six innings of one-run baseball and struck out seven, keeping Farmington’s (14-13) season alive in the 5A one-loss bracket.

Brandon Young batted 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Aiden Nash hit 2 for 4 with two RBIs. The Phoenix next meet Roy at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17 at Kearns High.

VIEWMONT 6, WASATCH 5

BOUNTIFUL — Viewmont scored four runs in the seventh to take a walk-off win over Wasatch in a 5A one-loss bracket game.

Viewmont (10-16) advances to face Maple Mountain at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Kearns High.

PLEASANT GROVE 9, DAVIS 2

PLEASANT GROVE — Garrett Larsen hit 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI but Davis fell behind early in the second round of the 6A baseball tournament, losing to Region 4 champion Pleasant Grove.

Davis (17-10) will next play Bingham at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the one-loss bracket at Utah Valley University.

CYPRUS 5, CLEARFIELD 2

MAGNA — Cyprus scored four runs in the fifth inning and ultimately ended Clearfield’s season in the 6A baseball one-loss bracket.

Brady Ross batted 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored. Ethan Giacalone drove in the Falcons’ other run and Ty Witt doubled. Clearfield ends the season 12-15 overall.

HIGHLAND 9, WOODS CROSS 8

SALT LAKE CITY — Woods Cross saw its season end in a 5A one-loss bracket defeat at Highland.

Calum Seifert and Cooper College each hit solo home runs for Woods Cross (12-14). Brock Simmons and Taylor Ayala each had two hits.

PLAIN CITY — Cortney Rhees batted 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI as Fremont (17-7) put away Taylorsville in a 6A tournament first-round game.

Aubrey Morrow hit 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Rylie Bennett batted 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Kynlee Hoggan pitched a complete game.

Fremont next travels to Bingham at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

BOUNTIFUL 12, TIMPVIEW 2

BOUNTIFUL — Bountiful scored 12 unanswered runs to beat Timpview in the first round of the 5A playoffs

Libbie Hawker and Livi Arona each had three hits for Bountiful (19-7), with Hawker hitting a triple. Shambre Maestas drove in three and pitched a complete game in the win.

The Braves will next host East at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

ROY 6, COTTONWOOD 1

ROY — Roy scored five runs in the sixth inning to beat Cottonwood in a 5A first-round game.

Maysa Averett batted 2 for 3 with a three-run home run for Roy (15-11). Ana Palmer added a two-run dinger and Maddy Dunn hit 2 for 3 with a double. Averett picked up the win.

The Royals will travel to Wasatch for a second-round game at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

BOX ELDER 10, ALTA 9

SANDY — Mallory Merrill hit a seventh-inning, two-run homer to put Box Elder ahead for a 5A first-round win at Alta.

Sydnie Blacker, Mickelle Lish, Jostlen Leggett and Merrill each had two hits for Box Elder (11-16), with Leggett and Lish each doubling. Kamryn Peterson got the win in three innings of relief.

Box Elder will next travel to play Region 6 champion West at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

FARMINGTON 4, CORNER CANYON 2

DRAPER — Delaney Baker hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run inning to take control in a Farmington win at Corner Canyon in the first round of the 5A playoffs.

Morgan Tanner blasted a solo shot for Farmington (12-14). Hadley Eichmeier added a double. Baker picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle.

Farmington will next travel to face Murray at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

HERRIMAN 8, DAVIS 2

HERRIMAN — Davis gave up six runs in the fourth inning of a 6A first-round loss at Herriman.

The Darts (15-7) will host American Fork in the one-loss bracket at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

COPPER HILLS 7, CLEARFIELD 2

WEST JORDAN — Copper Hills scored four runs in the fifth to break open a 2-2 game and defeat Clearfield in the 6A first round.

Jayci Finch struck out nine, walked zero and gave up three earned runs in six innings of the loss. Clearfield (13-9) had three hits.

The Falcons will travel to play Cyprus at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the one-loss bracket.

GIRLS GOLF

6A TOURNAMENT

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Davis High shot 630 over two days, 26 strokes behind champion Lone Peak, to take second place at the 6A state tournament held at Talons Cove.

Caylyn Ponich finished tied for seventh individually, shooting a two-day score of 4-over-par 148 for Davis. Teammates Katelyn Day and Aubree Johnson shot 160, Brooklyn Halliday 165, Victoria Castro 172 and Jenny Ensign 179.

Bingham’s Carissa Graft was individual medalist, shooting 131.

Northridge’s Abbi Cowan was tied for ninth at 155 and Syracuse’s Libby Ward was tied for 14th at 163.

2A TOURNAMENT

RICHFIELD — St. Joseph’s Emma Dulaney tied for second individually by shooting a personal-best 93 in the 2A state tournament at Cove View.

Tyra Eyre won medalist honors with a score of 91 to lead Beaver to a team win.

Layton Christian finished sixth as a team. Faith Meza’s 101 was tied for seventh. Whitlee Crowder finished 15th with a 111.
