OREM — In a game resumed Wednesday after being postponed Tuesday, Fremont baseball jumped to a 5-0 lead and held on to defeat Bingham 6-4 in the 6A state tournament one-loss bracket at Utah Valley University.
Jaxon Larkin singled on the first pitch of Wednesday’s action to make it 4-0 after the Silverwolves took a 2-0 lead Tuesday before the game was suspended.
Brayden Clark batted 3 for 4 with one RBI while Mason Memmott and Drake Grange both batted 2 for 4.
Mason McCloy pitched 2 2/3 innings of no-hit relief after Bingham cut Fremont’s lead to 5-3 in the fifth inning.
Fremont will face Lone Peak at 10 a.m. Thursday at UVU.
Syracuse’s semifinal matchup against Pleasant Grove will be played at noon Thursday instead of the previously scheduled time of 4:30 p.m.
The 6A/5A softball state tournament at Taylorsville’s Valley Regional Park was rained out Wednesday for the second straight day.
Officials will evaluate the fields Thursday morning to determine whether they’re suitable for play. Games are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
