PLEASANT VIEW — A year after the Fremont High baseball team lost to Weber on its home field and watched as the Warriors celebrated winning the No. 4 seed in the teams’ winner-take-all game, the Silverwolves got one back on Friday.

Weber jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, only to see Fremont take the lead with three runs in the fifth to win 10-5 and clinch a share of the Region 1 championship a year after missing the playoffs entirely.

Brayden Clark paced Fremont (17-8, 13-5 Region 1), batting 3 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs. Jack Arevalo hit 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs.

Nic Erickson batted 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and four RBIs for Weber (8-17, 3-15).

Fremont, which recently won a region title in 2017, split the region title with Davis, but will be the No. 1 seed thanks to a head-to-head tiebreaker. The Silverwolves and Darts host first-round playoff games on Monday at 4 p.m.

CLEARFIELD 11,

SYRACUSE 10 (9)

CLEARFIELD — Brady Ross scored on a squeeze bunt by Noah Hardy to lift Clearfield (12-12, 10-8 Region 1) to a walk-off win over Syracuse in a resumption of Thursday’s game that was suspended due to darkness in the top of the seventh inning with the score tied 8-8.

The result means the Falcons will be the No. 3 seed and the Titans (14-10, 10-8) will be the No. 4 seed in Region 1. The result also means Layton is eliminated from playoff contention.

WOODS CROSS 9, BOUNTIFUL 4

BOUNTIFUL — Woods Cross stook a 2-0 lead after the first inning, then scored four in the fourth to take back the lead for good in a winner-take-all region win at Bountiful.

Five Wildcats had two hits apiece for Woods Cross (12-13, 8-7 Region 5). Calum Seifert hit a triple and a double and drove in one. Taylor Ayala doubled and singled and drove in one.

The Wildcats will be the No. 4 seed in the 5A playoffs.

Sam Jordan and Peyton Hale each had two hits and drove in one for the Braves (12-11, 7-8), which will miss the playoffs after the loss.

SOFTBALL

ROY 12, VIEWMONT 0

BOUNTIFUL — Roy plated five runners in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead in a five-inning region win at Viewmont.

Saige Nielsen and Ana Palmer each hit a home run, a double and drove in three for Roy (14-11, 10-5 Region 5). Kiley Hill struck out five in a complete-game win.

Viewmont (2-19, 0-14) was held to three hits on the day.

NORTHRIDGE 9, WEBER 0

PLEASANT VIEW — Northridge scored four in the fifth and five in the seventh to beat Weber.

Four Knights (7-14, 3-9 Region 1) had two hits apiece, with Makenna Kap driving in four and Leksi Papic driving in three. Northridge hit six doubles on the day. Kap pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts.

Baylee Blanchard tripled for one of the Warriors’ (5-12, 1-11) two hits.

JUAB 19, MORGAN 6

SPANISH FORK — Morgan allowed 11 runs in the second inning in a loss to Juab in the 3A state tournament one-loss bracket at Spanish Fork Softball Complex.

Danielle Cook led second-seeded Morgan, batting 3 for 3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Kassidy Mikesell added a double and drove in two.

The Trojans finish the season at 17-11, and 5-3 in Region 13.

WOODS CROSS 4, FARMINGTON 3

WOODS CROSS — Sadie Bevan singled to drive in Autumn Johnson and give Woods Cross a walk-off region win over Farmington to force a play-in game on Monday.

Niki Golightly, Alison Ebberts. Jade Valdez and Ari Ayala each had two hits for Woods Cross (10-15, 7-8 Region 5), with Ayala hitting a double. Valdez pitched a complete game for the win.

Delaney Baker hit a home run and Kylie Tingey had two hits for Farmington (10-14, 7-8).

Woods Cross and Farmington will contest a play-in game for the region’s fourth seed Monday at 4 p.m. at WXHS.

WEST 15, SYRACUSE 0

SALT LAKE CITY — Syracuse (6-14) was held to one hit and allowed nine runs in the second inning in a three-inning loss at West.

BOYS SOCCER

ROY 3, BOX ELDER 1

BRIGHAM CITY — Roy scored two second-half goals to break a 1-1 halftime tie in a region win at Box Elder and clinch the region’s No. 2 seed.

Deontae Ben, Gabe Campbell and Coleman Hansen each found the back of the net for the Royals (9-6-1, 5-4-1 Region 5) at

Stats were not provided for Box Elder (7-7-2, 4-5-1).

The Bees finished in a three-way tie for third place with Woods Cross and Farmington, but will be the region’s No. 3 seed based on head-to-head.

WOODS CROSS — Jaquan Calder netted a second-half goal to lift Bountiful to a region win at Woods Cross.

Cam Bethers and Micah Pettit shared the shutout for the Braves (4-9-2, 3-7 Region 5)

With the loss, Woods Cross (6-9-4, 4-5-1) will face Farmington in a play-in game for fourth place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Farmington.

VIEWMONT 1, FARMINGTON 0

BOUNTIFUL — Lorince Essig netted a first half goal to lift Viewmont to a win over Farmington.

Josh Varley had the shutout for the Vikings (10-1-4, 7-1-2 Region 5).

Farmington (4-8-2, 4-5-1) hosts Woods Cross Saturday at 2 p.m. in a fourth-place play-in game.

BOYS TENNIS

SALT LAKE CITY — Both doubles teams and two singles players from Bonneville advanced to the semifinals of the 4A state tournament at Liberty Park. The Lakers are tied with Park City for the team lead after Day 1, each with nine points.

1st Singles

Caden Heaton (Bonneville) defeated Payson’s Cole Peterson by default. Heaton fell to top-seed Ryan Jeppson (Green Canyon) 6-1, 6-0 in the second round.

2nd Singles

Andrew McCall (Bonneville) defeated Logan Nielsen from Green Canyon 6-4, 6-1. McCall beat one-seed Ben Cooper (Dixie) 6-1, 6-3 in the second round. McCall will face one-seed Sam Sorensen from Salem Hills in the semifinals.

3rd Singles

Brecken Bernard (Bonneville) beat Dixie’s Brady Madrid 6-1,6-4 in the first round, then downed Andrew Thomson (Salem Hills) 6-0, 6-2. Bernard will face top-seed Landon Brenchley of Ridgeline in the semifinals.

1st Doubles

Mitchell Holden and Jeremy Hopkins (Bonneville) downed Bryant Giles and Ammon Wallace from Salem Hills 6-1, 6-2 in the first round, then beat Green Canyon’s Isaac Olson and Jason Broadbent 6-1, 6-1. They will face top-seed Logan Seegmiller and Matt Seegmiller from Desert Hills in the semifinals.

Quin Sandau and Luke Kaschmitterz from Ben Lomond fell to Lehi’s Braden Francom and Tanner McAllister 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.

2nd Doubles

Top-seed Sam Hendrickson and Gavin Kofford (Bonneville) beat Ethan Olsen and Matt Barber (Mountain Crest) 6-2, 6-0 in the first round, then downed Zach Thorpe and Christian Buss from Orem 7-5, 6-1. The Laker pair’s semifinal opponent will be Desert Hills’ Braden Williams and Nui Afualo.
